All of our Junior, Youth and Senior Development Programmes are overseen by our experienced and highly qualified coaching team.

Director of Football

Barry Gardiner

Barry joined TCAFC in 2019 as full-time Director of Football and Mens First Team Coach. He currently holds NZF/OFC B License and Junior Level 3 qualifications and is a candidate for his NZF/OFC A Licence. Before moving into coaching, Barry played professionally and semi-professionally in Scotland before moving to New Zealand to play in the NZ National League. Prior to joining TCAFC, he was the Football Development Officer in charge of Talent Development and Coach Education at WaiBOP Football. While at WaiBOP, Barry coached the TCAFC Mens First Team in 2017, had two seasons as Head Coach of the WaiBOP National Womens League team and was Assistant Coach for the WaiBOP United Mens National League team. Using his experience from other Skills Centres, Federation Talent Centres and National Talent Centre Groups, Barry oversees all our junior, youth and senior football development to ensure it's aligned with NZ Football's national curriculum.

Senior Football Officer

Nic Millichip

Nic has coached our Mens First Team since joining TCAFC in 2017. He currently holds NZF/OFC B License and Junior Level 3 qualifications and is a candidate for his NZF/OFC A Licence. Nic coaches in our football development programmes and also works with Katikati FC where he oversaw their Skills Centre. Nic was part of the Auckland City FC Club World Cup campaign in Japan and was named McDonalds National Junior Coach of the year in 2016. He has also coached WaiBOP Skills Centre and Federation Talent Centre groups and taken WaiBOP junior and youth teams to the Weir Rose Bowl and the National Age Group Tournaments.

Head of Youth Development

Maia Ririnui

Maia has a NZF/OFC B License and Junior Level 3 coaching qualifications. He has been coaching junior and youth players at TCAFC since 2011. Maia worked at Papamoa FC for 5 years too, where he helped set up their Federation Youth Programme and Skills Centre. Maia assisted Barry with the WaiBOP National Womens League group in 2017. He has assisted with the delivery of WaiBOP talent programmes since 2016, including in Skills Centre, Federation Talent Centre, Weir Rose Bowl and National Age Group Tournament programmes. Maia works with junior and youth players in our Skills Centre and Talent Development Programme, assists with the Mens First Team and has coached our U23/Reserves since 2019. Most recently he coached our U17 mens team that won the Western Springs-hosted national tournament in December 2020. 

Head of Junior Development

Cameron Grieve

Cam has a NZF/OFC B License and Junior Level 3 qualifications. After playing semi-professionally in the Irish Premiership, Cam moved to New Zealand to play for the TCAFC Mens First team in 2016. He continues to play and is a club captain while developing his coaching experience. Formally the Director of Football at Bethlehem College, Cam has also coached in the WaiBOP Skills Centre and teams at the Weir Rose Bowl Tournament and National Age group teams. More recently at TCAFC, he has coached our U19 mens tournament team, who won the Napier-hosted National Championship in 2019 and were runners-up in 2020. Cam will continue to focus on supporting our junior development, while also working in our other football development programmes.
