Talent Development Programme

“Be the best you can be with TCAFC”

Our Talent Development Programme (TDP) launched in 2018 with about of 20 players. It has grown since then and we started 2020 with 70+ players working across 5 groups.

The TDP is a youth football development programme for selected players aged 13-17 years. It was established and operates based on guidance from NZ Football and is overseen by Director of Football Barry Gardiner and Head of Youth Development Maia Ririnui. It is supported by the club's most experienced and qualified coaches and is a key part of our development pathway, bridging the gap between junior and senior football at our club and beyond.

TCAFC operates its top youth teams from the TDP and they compete in the most appropriate leagues available. In 2020 our teams all competed in the WaiBOP Federation Y-League.

In Term 4 we operate a separate Open TDP for players wanting to continue their development. There are no leagues in Term 4 and typically our top players are working with the WaiBOP Federation National Age Group Tournamnet (NAGT) squads at this time. However we continue to train with those that want to and arrange friendly games against teams from our region and beyond.

2020 is a special case with the NAGT having been canceled due to COVID-19. In its place WaiBOP is conducting a series of gamedays it will use to track players as part of a pre-identificaton process for its 2021 NAGT campaign. Our Term 4 TDP players will play in these games.

We are currently taking registrations from any interested players for our Term 4 2020 TDP (details below).

Contact us at develop@tcafc.co.nz with any queries.
