Our Club
Tauranga City AFC (TCAFC) was founded in 1967.
Originally located at Wharepai Domain, after a merger with Mount Maunganui United we migrated to our current home at Links Avenue in 2000. In 2018, we merged with Mount Maunganui Junior Football, providing a full player pathway for our football community.
Our Mens First team is the premier team in the Bay of Plenty, playing in New Zealand Football (NZF) Northern League. This is regarded as the strongest domestic league in Aotearoa, playing weekly against Hamilton and Auckland teams. The top 4 teams from this league then go onto the NZF National League. Our U23 Reserves play in the Northern Regional Federation League (NRFL), and travel alongside our First team. Our womens premier teams are now part of the FC Tauranga Moana Wahine Programme (details below).
We have mens and womens teams operating in all the WaiBOP Football competitions and also operate a Sunday Social side.
For our younger members, Saturday ranges from 4 - 19. Our Mini Blues (4-6) play in-house games, while all other grades are in competitions operated by WaiBOP Football. We also operate year round development programmes for ages 5-8 (FCTM operates all others) and holiday programmes (normally first week of the holidays).
In 2022, we formed a new partnership with Papamoa FC to combine our Talent Development programmes for boys and girls ages 9+. A new club, FC Tauranga Moana (FCTM), was formed and is now the largest Academy in the Bay of Plenty region. In 2023, we joined forces with Papamoa FC and Otumoetai FC to combine our female Youth and Senior teams as part of the FCTM Wahine Programme.
Our moto "Success Breeds Success" is the foundation to create memorable football experiences for our members.
