Mini Blues is a fun, safe introduction to football for young players, focused on building basic skills and confidence through play-based learning, with small-sided games every Saturday morning and no required midweek trainings, plus optional extra development through our Skills Hub.
For U8–U9 players, the winter season runs through Terms 2 and 3 and focuses on building core skills, confidence, and enjoyment of the game at this important development stage. Teams train once midweek and play on Saturdays, with optional extra development available through our Skills Hub.
For U10–U11 players, the winter season runs through Terms 2 and 3 and is focused on sharpening skills, building match awareness. In this grade, the pitch size increases to help players develop spatial awareness. At this level, teams play in WaiBOP-facilitated leagues, introducing more tactical elements like the offside rule via the retreating line.
This grade serves as the bridge to Youth football, moving to a larger 9v9 format. At this level, teams play on a larger pitch where they transition from junior skills to youth-level tactical awareness.
Players transition to larger formats and more competitive structures. At this level, teams play in regional leagues where official disciplinary measures and league standings are fully introduced.

National League
Our Men’s First Team is the only WaiBOP representative in the Northern Regional Phase of the National League, competing weekly against the country's elite. The top four teams from this league progress to the National League Championship phase. Playing in parallel is our U23 Men’s Reserves, a high-level environment that also allows for over-age players. If you are interested in joining either of these squads, please emailbarry@tcafc.co.nz.
Our Women’s First and Reserve sides compete in the NRFL Premiership, widely regarded as the top women's league in the country. These premier teams are part of Te Ara Wāhine, a Tauranga wāhine youth and senior football collaboration supported by WaiBOP.
