Winter Football

We are Tauranga’s premier football club based in the heart of the Mount where we’ve been providing football to the community since 1967.

We're community focused and passionate that everyone, regardless of age, gender and ability has the opportunity to play, coach, referee and support football. We believe football delivers a range of social benefits, such as promoting good learning habits, socialisation, confidence and leadership.

Our clubrooms are located at Links Avenue Reserve and we also play games at Ocean Downs Reserve, Macville Park, Baypark & Te Wati. In 2025, Links Ave will have the first dedicated state of the art astroturf in the Bay Of Plenty, adding further benefit to our members and the whole football community.
Check out our Season Information page for more information.

Seniors

The Winter season runs from March to September, with pre-season training starting late January for our premier teams and late February for other teams. Information on this can be found Senior pages or our Social Media Channels like Facebook and Instagram.

Our Mens First team are the only WaiBOP team in the Northern Regional Phase of the National League, playing weekly against the best teams in the country, with the top 4 teams in this league progressing to the National League Championship phase. Our U23 Mens Reserves team play in parallel with our First team (over U23 players are able to play in this league). Players interested in either of these teams, should email barry@tcafc.co.nz

Our Womens First and Reserves side play in the NRFL Premiership, also regarded as the country's top league. For our wāhine, we collaborate with Papamoa FC and Otumoetai FC and these sides play under FC Tauranga Moana

We also enter Mens and Womens teams in the WaiBOP Leagues (League One and Baywide) and have a Mens Sunday Social side.
Pre-Season for these teams normally starts February/March.

Junior & Youth

The Winter Season starts on the first Saturday of Term 2 and runs through to the end of Term 3 (normally finishing before AIMS games). If you're looking for more football, we operate development programmes all year round in our Skills Hub for ages 5 - 13. These programmes are designed to be in addition to your team practices and are operated by our qualified coaching team.

Our Academy teams are operated by FC Tauranga Moana, who are the only club in the Bay of Plenty to offer NZ Football accredited Talent Development Programmes and Auckland FC's Youth Development Club Partnership.

Mini Blues (ages 4 - 6)
The perfect way to get into football in a fun, engaging and safe learning environment where they can fall in love with our beautiful game. Mini Blues play small sided games on Saturday mornings and have no mid-week trainings (check out our Skills Hub for extra football). More information can be found on the Mini Blues page.

Junior Football (ages 7 - 12)
Carrying on from Mini Blues or new to football, this is considered the age where players start to hone their skills and learn the most. After teams are formed, coaches will set a training day and time, with games played Saturday mornings. More information can be found on the Junior Football page.

Youth Football (ages 13 - 19)
The final stage in Junior & Youth football. Our teams are more socially focused, with our Academy teams playing for FC Tauranga Moana. After teams are formed, coaches will set a training day and time, with games played Saturday mornings. More information can be found on our Youth Football page.

Fees

Our membership fees have never covered all of our operational costs (clubrooms, fields, staff), and 50% of these fees are payable to our governing bodies WaiBOP Football and New Zealand Football (NZF). We rely on Volunteers, Sponsors and Grant Funding to keep our costs down.
Compared to other sports, football costs a lot less for a full season.
The average cost to the club, per player/each season is $350 for Junior & Youth and $600 for Seniors.
In 2025, our operational costs will increase with the introduction of higher Facility and Ground fees by Tauranga City Council. WaiBOP & NZF have also advised that they will be increasing their fees 15% each season. We will continue to try and keep our fees down where we can, if you can help with this by volunteering or sponsoring the club, please contact hello@tcafc.co.nz.
