CLUB OF THE YEAR

23 Jun

Last night at the WaiBOP Football AGM, I had the honour of accepting the award "Club of the Year 2019" on behalf of our club. It was a very welcome surprise.

This is a significant milestone and great recognition for what we've achieved together in the last few years. When we agreed to merge Tauranga City United and Mount Maunganui JFC in 2017, there was a lot we needed to work through. It's credit to a number of passionate people in our club that we've got to this point and receiving this recognition. Well done team!

Karyn Walters (CEO of WaiBOP) mentioned that the award not only encompassed the merger work but also the increased and successful focus on junior and youth development. Karyn also mentioned our MOU with Tauranga Boys College and the progress we've made with Mount Intermediate and Mount College. We're privileged to have an amazing, qualified and experienced coaching team who put a huge amount of time into ensuring our club has the right environment to nurture players and coaches at all levels.

We're going to be looking at how to celebrate this milestone and will let you all know what that looks like soon. We welcome any ideas you may have. In the meantime though, be proud of the shirt you wear this weekend and the achievement we've all made together.

On behalf of the Executive Committee, thank you everyone.

COYB!
